Job Summary

The Engagement and Outreach Specialist is responsible to attract and encourage all demographics including, young families and adults of the West Island Jewish community, to get involved in diverse initiatives, programming and volunteer opportunities for the purpose of ensuring a vibrant and committed Jewish community on the West Island. During the annual CJA Campaign, the Coordinator is also responsible to focus on fundraising events and efforts as they relate to their respective programming.

Duties and Responsibilities


• Engage members of the different age group throughs multiple outreach platforms with an end goal of encouraging their commitment to the Jewish community.
• Remain abreast of city-wide events and trends and use these as opportunities to attract, recruit and engage members of the assigned age group
• Identify and engage potential volunteers and leaders within their assigned group age
• Ensure that volunteers and program participants are properly pipelined to appropriate community programs
• Oversee, manage and ensure accuracy of budgets for each event
• Create the critical path for assigned events including tasks, timelines and key deliverables
• Initiate and execute ideas for various outreach events and collaborate closely with the WI Director on all matters relating to logistics, data collection, and event planning.
• Ensure a high level of customer service by responding in a timely manner to inquiries from multiple organizations, professionals and clients
• Cultivate relationships with new and existing members of the West Island, for the purpose of partaking in fundraising efforts during the annual CJA campaign
• Build & maintain strong relationships with our partners on the West Island with a goal of building partnerships and collaboration opportunities.
• Liaise and work closely with other departments and professionals of the Federation CJA as well as affiliated agencies and community organizations for the purpose of creating collaborative opportunities that would lead to meaningful community engagement.

Education, Knowledge and Skills


• A University degree or equivalent
• Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience within the community or a not-for-profit environment
• Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work with volunteers and other community professionals
• Proactive attitude, takes initiative
• Excellent attention to detail
• Experience in Program Design, Development and implementation an asset
• Outstanding communication, writing and presentation skills,
• High level knowledge of the MS Office suite, specifically Word and Excel, required
• Strong work ethics, including organizational skills, strategic thinking and an ability to work in a multitask environment
• Excellent Project management skills, time management, scheduling and coordinating schedules
• Knowledge of Montreal Jewish Community and a commitment to the values of Federation CJA.
